Description
Cob Restoration and Repairs, Cob buildings & walls, Rammed Earth Wattle & Daub and Clay Plastering. Cob is the term used in Devon for mass earth walling, built on a plinth or dwarf wall. The earth mixed with straw and water to the right consistency and tossed up onto walltop in folkfuls where normally it’s trodden into place. When dried somewhat it can be trimmed off to maintain a smooth straight finish. Once dry and stable enough the next lift can be applied. An average lift between 450-800mm. All cob problems are different and repairs and techniques need to be considered carefully. Most of our work is trouble shooting, establishing the cause/problem first and then overcoming the problem.
